There is no Past!

How can we stand before the All Mighty most holy, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords? Because there is no past. The Bible says in John 1:29, “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
Imagine, the people gathering around John the Baptist, some were eager to hear his teaching, some believing him to be a false teacher, and some we just curious onlookers. Then John announced those beautiful, wonderful, prophetic words. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
They must have been shocked! Some no doubt accused him of blasphemy. Perhaps others stood in stunned silence wondering if such a miracle could really be true. In those days the people lived under the Mosaic Law which required animal sacrifice. The purpose of the sacrifice was to atone for or cover over their sin.
The concept of sin being taken away was new. If true it would have profound consequences. To think that now by the shed blood of Jesus, our sins are not only covered, but actually taken away! Our sin now separated as far as the east is from the west. Now when God looks at us He sees us through the blood of His Son, our Savior, Jesus! Now there is no past!
Today we sing with unspeakable joy, “What can wash away my sin, NOTHING but the Blood of Jesus!” Because there is no past we are free from condemnation, guilt, and shame. Because there is no past we can truly walk in the newness of life in Christ.
Father in Heaven, how I pray today, we trust in and celebrate the reality we have no past! In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!
